Carry Your Clan On The course

At Mackem Golf, we make custom golf headcovers in your Scottish family clan tartan, so your heritage comes out of the bag every time you tee off.
Tartan is where Mackem started. Our range has always drawn on the traditional side of golf and the fabrics of the British Isles, so a clan tartan cover is a natural fit for what we do.
Whether you’re a MacDonald, a Campbell, a Stewart or a smaller sept with a tartan few people have seen, we’ll turn it into a one-of-a-kind driver, fairway, hybrid or putter cover, handmade in our Perth studio.

We’ll lay out the pattern so the tartan sits right on every cover, then line, finish and handmake each piece in our studio. Add embroidered initials or a name if you want it to be properly yours.
Your family tartan, protecting your clubs and starting conversations every round.
Start with your surname, then work back through the family tree, including your mother's side and grandparents. Clan membership traditionally follows the surname, but plenty of people wear the tartan of a maternal line they feel connected to. The Scottish Register of Tartans is the official record and is searchable online. If you're stuck, send us your family name and we'll help narrow it down.
Quite possibly. Many surnames are septs, families historically linked to a larger clan. Robertsons belong to Clan Donnachaidh, Thomsons are associated with Clan MacTavish, and Wilsons with Clan Gunn. Some surnames are claimed by more than one clan, so you may have a choice.
They're usually the same pattern in different colourways:
Not every clan has every version. We'll show you what's available for yours.
Wear a universal tartan. Black Watch (also known as the Government tartan) and Hunting Stewart are traditionally open to anyone. There are also district tartans tied to places rather than families, plus Irish county tartans if your roots are across the water. Or browse our standard Tartan Head Covers.
